How to Measure A Vest or Jacket

How to Measure Yourself for a Rebel Reaper Motorcycle Vest & Leather Jacket

Getting the right fit is key—your gear should be comfortable, allow movement, and leave room for layering. Use this guide to measure yourself before ordering your Rebel Reaper vest or leather jacket.

⚠️ Important Note: This is a general sizing recommendation. Every body type is different, and for the most accurate results, we recommend visiting a local tailor or measurement shop to ensure the best fit. Rebel Reaper provides this guide as a reference, but fit may vary based on personal preference and body shape.

What You’ll Need:

✔️ A soft measuring tape (not a metal one)

✔️ A friend to help (optional but helpful)

✔️ A snug t-shirt or lightweight layer (for best accuracy)

Step-by-Step Guide to Measuring

1. Chest Measurement (Most Important for Fit)

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits.

Keep the tape snug but not too tight—you should be able to slide two fingers under it.

For a jacket: Add 2-4 inches to this measurement to allow room for layers like a hoodie or flannel.

For a vest: Add 1-2 inches for comfort, especially if you plan to wear it over a jacket or hoodie.

✔️ Example: If your chest measures 42 inches:

Order a jacket size 44-46 (depending on how much layering you plan to do).

Order a vest size 44 for a fitted feel, or 46 for layering over thick jackets.

2. Shoulder Width

Stand naturally and measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, across your back.

Keep the tape flat and don’t round your shoulders forward.

✔️ Tip: If you’re between sizes, go one size up—especially for jackets, so you can move freely.

3. Waist Measurement (For Proper Fit & Comfort)

Measure around your natural waist (above your belly button, below your ribs).

This helps ensure your vest or jacket won’t feel too tight when sitting or riding.

✔️ Tip: If your waist is larger than your chest measurement, size up to accommodate.

4. Sleeve Length (For Jackets Only)

Place the tape at the edge of your shoulder and measure down to your wrist with your arm relaxed at your side.

This ensures the jacket sleeves aren’t too short when reaching for your handlebars.

✔️ Tip: If you’re tall or have long arms, consider a tall size for extra sleeve length.

5. Torso Length (For Proper Vest & Jacket Coverage)

Measure from the base of your neck (where your shirt collar sits) down to your belt line.

This prevents your gear from riding up while riding.

✔️ Tip: If you have a long torso, consider a tall size for extra length.

Final Sizing Tips:

✅ Vests: If wearing over a hoodie or jacket, size up 1-2 sizes for comfort.

✅ Jackets: Add 2-4 inches to your chest measurement for layering room.

✅ If between sizes, always go up one size for the best mobility.
